Business Development

Director of Business Development - Advertising

Skyhook Wireless seeks a business and market development professional to take point on creating new market, alliance, opportunities and relationships in location-based and local advertising. Working closely with product management, sales and senior management, you will help define the company's product and corporate strategy to break into the location-based advertising market by taking the lead on establishing new relationships, contacts and partnerships. The right candidate will see this as an opportunity to create a new business and market that has potential for tremendous growth.

Requires:

The position requires 5+ years experience in business development, alliances, product marketing and/or product management with cross-functional experience an advantage. Industry experience and contacts within the ad networks, agencies, local search providers, search engines and content portals a strong advantage.

Product Management

Wireless Product Manager

Skyhook Wireless seeks a Product Manager to join the founding team in managing Skyhook's core location engine. As Product Manager, you will guide the overall team to continue the company's leadership in location technology. You must be able to communicate with all areas of the company. You will work with an engineering counterpart to define product release requirements. You will work with marketing communications to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer.

Requires:

1-2 years of software marketing/product management experience. Knowledgeable in technology. Computer Science or Engineering degree or work experience a strong plus. Experience in wireless industry, location products and/or MBA a plus.

Web Product Manager

Skyhook Wireless seeks a Product Manager to join the founding team in developing new consumer web products as well as manage existing products. As Product Manager, your primary responsibility will be for the product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle, including: gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements; defining the product vision; and working closely with engineering, sales, marketing, and support teams to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. This role also ensures that the product supports the company's overall strategy and goals. You must have a passionate and in-depth knowledge about trends in online advertising and what constitutes a great consumer experience; and you can tell when Web 2.0 is practical and when it's mere hype.

Requires:

1-2 years of online marketing/product management experience. Knowledgeable in technology. Experience in online advertising or Web 2.0 company a plus.

Engineering

Web application development

Build the next generation of location enabled applications using Web 2.0 technologies. Create state of the art solutions based on Skyhook's WPS platform.

Mobile device support

Enhance the mobile device framework by providing support for additional mobile devices. Enhance and maintain a common application programming interface for applications to existing and new devices from different manufacturers.

  • Windows Mobile, Apple iPhone, Symbian, Embedded Linux - Communication with these devices, access to the Wi-Fi abstraction of these devices, resource management
  • Experience with GPS and J2ME is a plus
Embedded device development

Enhance and maintain internal Windows applications for capturing different types of access point data. This includes hardware assembly of the device to capture the wireless access point data.

Server development

Architect, design and deliver large-scale, highly available, solutions using Java technology in J2EE environments.

  • Benchmarking, tuning, optimizing and troubleshooting for large scale deployments with focus on concurrent access and latency

Director of Software Engineering

Provide project and people leadership for a highly technical Software Engineering group in an innovative and fast paced environment with an ability to establish credibility with a small engineering team quickly. This position will require:

  • Strong project management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience in planning, execution of complex software projects
  • Experience in hiring, retaining and developing talent
  • Experience in ability to achieve stretch goals
  • Proven track record for product and project delivery
  • Experience managing offshore teams and projects development simultaneously in multiple geographical locations

  • Able to fit in well within an informal startup environment
Quality Assurance

Develop and maintain a suite of both manual and automated tests. Build a framework supporting continuous integration. Work closely with the Skyhook development team.

  • Develop, maintain and execute detailed test plans
  • Detailed reporting of defects in our tracking tool
  • Create and maintain an automated build infrastructure and test environment
    • Qualifications
  • Solid understanding of QA practices and methodologies
  • Thorough knowledge of development and defect lifecycles
  • Experience in release engineering and build automation

  • Experience testing with mobile devices
  • Experience using Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari and Opera
  • Knowledge of web architecture

  • Experience with Webload, Loadrunner, or other load tools
  • Experience with QTP, Redstone, or other regression tools
  • Knowledge with a variety of mobile devices
  • Proficiency with XML, Javascript, PHP or Perl
  • Knowledge of Subversion or source control solutions
